FUNERAL SERVICES
TRADITIONAL SERVICES
A traditional service, as selected by most families in our area,
consists of a family or public viewing of the deceased. Following
this, typically will be a service held at the funeral home or
church. This would be followed by earth burial or entombment in an
above ground mausoleum.
GRAVESIDE SERVICES
A graveside service can be another option. This many times would
follow a time of visitation at the funeral home. The casketed
remains would then be transferred to the cemetery where a graveside
ceremony could take place followed by the burial. A graveside
service may also be held at a mausoleum.
IMMEDIATE BURIAL - FOLLOWED BY MEMORIAL OR GRAVESIDE
SERVICE There would be no viewing or embalming.
Cremation services
TRADITIONAL FUNERAL - FOLLOWED BY
CREMATION
A complete traditional funeral can be held followed by cremation.
This service will be just like a traditional funeral service except
cremation will follow the service and/or visitation instead of the
casketed burial. Following the visitation, service or ceremony, and
eventual cremation, the cremated remains can be buried, inurned in a
mausoleum, properly scattered, or returned to the family for safe
keeping.
IMMEDIATE CREMATION
An immediate cremation service can be arranged as an immediate
disposition of the body, but is most times followed by a memorial
service at the funeral home, church or other location. A memorial
service is one where the body is not present. If you select an
immediate cremation you are allowed a time for private viewing
of the body. If the viewing can not be done within 48 hours then
embalming would be required by Iowa Law. Viewing of the deceased is
a very important step in acknowledging that the death has occurred.
Having some type of service or ceremony is also a key ingredient to
a healthy recovery of a loss due to a death.

THE SIX COMMON REASONS FOR PREARRANGING FUNERALS:
Today, more individuals and families are making the decision to
prearrange their funerals than ever before. Because of the factors
such as inflation, fewer extended family members living close by,
and other changes in our society, planning your own funeral can make
a lot of sense. In a recent survey, these were the most common
reasons people gave for prearranging their own funerals:
1. Lets your
wishes be known
2. Reduces stress for friends and family at an
already emotional time.
3. Saves money
4. Guarantees your family will never have to
pay more for your funeral - no matter what
happens with inflation.
5. Shows you care.
6. Relieves your loved ones of the financial
responsibility.
